Quentin's
Poetry
My granddaughter, Abigail, then age 12, once described
writing
poetry as 'tunnelling into myself'. I can't think of a better
description. In poetry we are free to use all the resources of
language, shape and typography to express our feelings as precisely as
possible. That means that the ultimate judge of a poem can only be the
poet who has written it. Which doesn't stop poets wanting to publish
their work in the hope that others will be able to relate to
it.
I hope you enjoy this mini selection from my poetry. It will be changed
or
augmented from time to time. Click on a title, and have a look.
Perhaps
no person can be a poet, or even enjoy poetry, without a certain
unsoundness of mind. (Lord Macaulay)
